The Malaysia Athletics Federation (MAF) has admitted to an administrative lapse in not submitting the wind readings, which is a required measure for record validation by the world body (WA).
WA also ruled that all the results at the Perlis Open, where Zaidatul had shattered G Shanti’s 31-year-old record, were not legal.
It remarked that the wind reading was NWI, meaning that no wind indicator was used.
That does not mean that there was no wind or the wind was measured at zero m/s, which refers to metres per second, a measurement of time.
Zaidatul, who clocked 11.49 seconds to shave one-tenth of a second off the old mark, said she hoped the matter would be rectified soon.
The MAF has come under fire for its blunder in failing to adhere to the basic requirement of providing the wind readings to WA for endorsement after athletics meetings.
MAF technical director, Robert Ballard, said it was an administrative error. “Actually all wind readings were missing for sprints, jumps and hurdles.”
“This is now being rectified and MAF is retrieving the readings today to submit to WA,” he added, noting WA would be back to work next week.
MAF general manager Nurhayati Karim said she has reached out to WA to resolve the matter, regretting that it has caused frustration among athletes and coaches.
