FAM internal dispute committee chairman N Saaran said the suspension is due to PFA’s failure to comply with a Fifa ruling to settle the outstanding wages and compensation to their former football director, Matt Holland, reported Bernama.
“Holland lodged a complaint after PFA failed to settle outstanding payments,” he told a media conference at Wisma FAM here.
“In a Nov 11 letter, Fifa instructed PFA to pay the outstanding amount of RM998,658 to Holland and a fine of 15,000 Swiss francs (about RM75,650).”
Saaran said FAM, named as a second respondent in the complaint, was fined 5,000 Swiss francs for failing to take action against PFA.
He said the decision to suspend PFA was made according to Articles 17 and 18 of FAM’s statute, which state that FAM’s executive council can suspend a member association if it has failed in its obligations as a member.
Saaran also said FAM’s internal dispute committee received complaints that Kelantan FA’s (Kafa) 65th annual congress and the election of its executive committee for the 2024-2028 term was not carried out according to due process.
“We have asked both parties to provide evidence so that the complaints can be verified and are legitimate,” said Saaran.
“We have decided that the complaints are valid and have set a date for a hearing on Dec 19 for Kafa to enter its defence.”
