
Goh and Izzuddin shot up to world No 8 from 12th place after their outstanding performances in winning the Super 750 series Japan Open in August and the Super 1000 China Open on Sunday. Both wins were their firsts in the respective events.
Malaysia’s top pair of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik remained in fifth position after having skipped the last two major tournaments due to injury. They last won the bronze medal at the July Olympics in Paris.
China’s number one pair, Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang, retained their number one spot while Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen maintained their second position. South Korea’s Kang Min Hyuk-Seo Seung Jae are next with India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty in fourth place.
However, singles ace Lee Zii Jia dropped two rungs to number five after having been knocked out in the first round of the Japan and China Open championships recently. His highest ranking attained was number two in 2022.
As for the women’s doubles, Pearly Tan-M Thinaah remained in the 8th position. Their best ranking was in 2023 when they were world No 5.
