KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta’zim let slip their lead twice en route to being held to a 2-2 draw by Shanghai Port FC in the opening match of their maiden Asian Champions League Elite 2024/25 campaign in China today.
The Southern Tigers, led by coach Hector Bidoglio, went ahead in added time in the first half through Arif Aiman Hanapi’s goal at the Pudong Football Stadium.
However, the home team drew level just three minutes after the break through Gustavo Henrique.
Arif then restored their lead with a second goal in the 56th minute but a goalmouth melee in the 72nd minute saw Willian Popp equalise for Shanghai Port FC.
JDT will entertain Shanghai Shenhua FC at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri next on Oct 1.
