Bashir Ahmad appointed as MAG director

The appointment at Malaysia Aviation Group Bhd is effective from Aug 12.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Former Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd managing director Bashir Ahmad has joined Malaysia Aviation Group Bhd (MAG) as a non-executive director effective Aug 12.

According to MAG’s updated board of directors on its website, Bashir had served Malaysia Airlines for 29 years, starting as a management trainee in 1972. He worked in various areas of the airline before becoming executive vice-president.

Bashir has been the Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd’s non-executive chairman since April 2023. He is also an adviser to the GMR Airport group since 2018.

According to online news reports, Bashir will also join the board of Malaysia Airlines.

His appointment marks the eighth addition to MAG’s board, which currently comprises its non-executive group chairman Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, group managing director Izham Ismail and five non-executive directors – Krishnan Tan, Cheryl Goh, Wong Shu Hsien, Zaiviji Ismail Abdullah and Faridah Bakar Ali.
