Malaysia thrash Singapore 4-1 to qualify for AFF semifinals

PETALING JAYA:
Malaysia qualified for the semifinals of the Mitsubishi Electric AFF Cup after thrashing Singapore at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium tonight.

Darren Lok put Malaysia ahead in the 35th minute, while Stuart Wilkin scored a brace in the 50th and 54th minutes.

Faris Ramli pulled one back for the visitors in the 85th minute, only for Sergio Aguero to score Malaysia’s fourth goal from a counter attack in the 88th minute.

Singapore, which occupied the second spot in Group B, only needed a draw to qualify for the semifinals.

The win sees Malaysia finish as runners-up in Group B behind Vietnam.
