However, there are some conditions: the animated flick will only be available for those who subscribe to Disney’s streaming service, Disney+ Hotstar.
Also, at the time of writing, the Buzz-y “Toy Story” spinoff has been given an 18+ rating, ostensibly with no cuts made. Given that Pixar films have often been given G or PG ratings, the high age rating is a definite oddity.
“Lightyear”, originally scheduled for a theatrical release in June, had reportedly run afoul of the Malaysian censorship board, which took issue with the depiction of a same-sex couple.
In the film, the title character is close friends with a female space ranger who is married to another woman.
A brief kiss between the couple was deemed unacceptable by Malaysian censors, which requested that the scene be cut before its release. Disney refused to allow this, ultimately choosing to cancel the release of the movie in Malaysia.

Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Egypt also did not screen the film in theatres for similar reasons.
Recently, another Disney feature – “Thor: Love & Thunder” – was pulled from Malaysian cinemas, with no official explanation provided, even though LGBTQ themes likely played a part in its shelving as well.
Nevertheless, it is likely the “Thor” sequel will go the same way as “Lightyear”, and will eventually be viewable by audiences via streaming instead.
