Bernama reported that this followed Bank Negara Malaysia’s approval for the appointment today.
He will be replacing Maybank’s current group president and CEO, Abdul Farid Alias, who was previously supposed to step down on Aug 1.
Abdul Farid will be leaving his post on April 30.
Before joining RHB, Khairussaleh was with Maybank for five years from November 2008 to September 2013, serving as the group’s chief financial officer before becoming the president director and CEO of Maybank Indonesia.
“Khairussaleh will rejoin the Maybank family, and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the financial services and capital markets industry of close to 30 years.
“We are confident that with his vast experience, he will be able to lead Maybank in its next growth phase, pillared on the M25 focus areas of digitalisation, sustainability and new value drivers,” Maybank chairman Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said in a statement today.
Khairussaleh, 54, had tendered his resignation from his posts in RHB effective March 25 this year. He previously took a leave of absence with effect from Jan 24.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, RHB said Khairussaleh was resigning from his position to pursue other opportunities.
Khairussaleh joined RHB Banking Group in 2013 as deputy group managing director before he was promoted to the position of group CEO in 2015.
