With holders Portugal now out, 36-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo has probably kicked his last ball at a European Championship. Even at this age, he led the Portuguese bombardment on the Belgian defence this morning, but it eventually proved futile. Ronaldo arrived on the scene as a fresh-faced teenager when Portugal hosted the tournament in 2004. Five editions and 17 years later, the Juventus player leaves as the competition’s all-time top scorer with 14 goals. He also led A Selecao to glory in 2016 – Portugal’s only international title. Thanks for the memories, Cristiano.
And of course, he could still win the Euro 2020 Golden Boot as C-Ron is leading the scoring chart on five goals.
Nothing on Holland? We’ve decided to de Ligt that part.
FUN FACT: When Belgium last beat Portugal in 1989, only seven of their current 26-man squad were born.
TONIGHT …
CROATIA vs SPAIN
Parken Stadium, Copenhagen, 12am
Having put five past Slovakia in their last game, Spain are back bouncing with belief. But in Croatia, La Roja will be up against a much stronger team. Also, their opponents have won two of their last three battles, including a 2-1 group stage victory at Euro 2016.

FRANCE vs SWITZERLAND
Arena Nationala, Bucharest, 3am
With Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Karim Benzema leading the line, France look the more likely to progress against a defence that has leaked five goals in three group games. Also, the Swiss are yet to make it beyond the round of 16 at a Euro. Les Bleus have never lost a competitive match against their neighbours, too.
