The 27-year-old Selangor-born gymnast said she was very grateful and relieved that she had completed both doses of the vaccine and was feeling more secure about training and more confident about travelling overseas.
She is aiming to give a good performance in Cairo, which will be her last tournament before the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
“I only have the Egypt Challenge Cup in June. I will go to Egypt and when I come back, I have to prepare for the Olympics, so the timeline is quite right.
“I am grateful for having the chance to go to Egypt because it’s been a long time since we had any tournaments,” she said after receiving the second jab of the vaccine at the DBKL Sports Complex here yesterday.
Farah Ann’s last competition was in the Philippines SEA Games in November 2019, where she bagged three gold medals, in the all-around, floor exercise and uneven bars events.
Farah Ann is currently undergoing stay-in training at the National Sports Council at the Bukit Jalil Sports Complex in Kuala Lumpur, which does not come under the targeted movement control order (MCO) announced by the government yesterday.
This latest MCO, effective May 6 to 17, is being implemented in six districts in Selangor namely Hulu Langat, Petaling, Gombak, Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang.
Under this MCO, inter-district and interstate travel are not allowed except for emergencies, work and movements permitted under the SOPs.
