Fuaad, 50, will fill the post vacated by former CEO Badrul Feisal Abdul Rahim, who died on May 31 following a heart attack. He was 51.

UMW said that with the appointment, Azmin Che Yusoff would cease to be the acting president and group CEO, and would resume his position of chief operating officer (corporate).

“The board of directors and I are looking forward to working closely with him (Fuaad). We are confident he will propel UMW to new frontiers and greater heights, while continuing to deliver value to our shareholders,” its chairman, Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman, said in a statement today.

Fuaad has more than 26 years’ experience in corporate business.
