SINGAPORE:
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today announced his new Cabinet line-up following his party, the People’s Action Party (PAP), retaining power in the republic’s general election on July 10.

Heng Swee Keat will continue as deputy prime minister and finance minister.

In announcing the new line-up via a virtual press conference, Lee said Heng will also take on additional responsibility as coordinating minister for economic policies.

Meanwhile, Chan Chun Sing will remain as trade and industry minister while Ong Ye Kung is the new transport minister following Khaw Boon Wan’s retirement.

Two senior ministers, Teo Chee Hean and Tharman Shanmugaratnam, remain as coordinating ministers for national security and social policies respectively.

According to Lee, there will be 37 officeholders, the same as the previous 2015 line-up.

The PAP, led by Lee as the secretary-general, won 83 of the 93 parliamentary seats at stake.
