KUALA LUMPUR:
A friendly match between Hong Kong and Malaysia scheduled to take place in the city-island on Oct 15 has been postponed indefinitely.

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) said the decision was taken due to the ongoing protests in the Special Administrative Region.

FAM said the Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) also did not agree to move the match to Malaysia.

“FAM yesterday sent a letter to HKFA to inform that Harimau Malaya would not be able to play the friendly in Hong Kong due to safety factors because of public disturbances there.

“The national squad will only be sent when the situation returns to normal,” the statement said.

Malaysia will play Sri Lanka at the National Stadium on Oct 5 before travelling to Vietnam to play their 2022 World Cup/2023 Asia Cup qualifier on Oct 10.
