This was agreed to at a meeting today between Prime Minister Najib Razak and Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya, said a joint statement issued after the meeting.
It said at the technical committee meeting, the attorney-general would represent the Federal Government and the Sarawak Attorney-General would represent the state government.
Adenan met Najib to discuss the devolution of powers, the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report and recommendations, the Malaysia Agreement 1963, the Malaysia Act, and the Report of the Cobbold Commission, according to a statement released by the Office of the Sarawak Chief Minister yesterday.
Adenan also handed over to Najib two memorandums on the state government’s stand on these matters.
Today’s statement said the meeting took note of several matters pertaining to governance that needed further technical discussions between the two sides.
The outcome of the meeting proved the close relations between the federal and state governments would be able to drive effective governance and management policies to ensure the well-being of the people, it said.
