Ringgit opens higher vs US dollar for 7th straight day

The local currency strengthens to 3.9265/3.9330 ahead of a high-stakes US-China summit in Beijing.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar for a seventh consecutive trading day ahead of the high-stakes meeting between US president Donald Trump and Chinese president Xi Jinping on May 14-15, 2026.

At 8am, the local currency strengthened to 3.9265/3.9330 against the greenback from 3.9285/3.9325 at Wednesday’s close.
