Northport appoints Fakhrul Azhar as CEO

He succeeds Azman Shah Yusof, who will take on the role of MMC Port Holdings’ CEO.

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd has announced the appointment of three senior officers, effective Dec 1.

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd has announced the appointment of three senior officers, including Fakhrul Azhar Tajudin as its new CEO, effective Dec 1.

He is expected to succeed Azman Shah Yusof, who will take on the role of MMC Port Holdings Sdn Bhd’s CEO, also effective Dec 1, the company said in a statement today.

Fakhrul Azhar who previously served as Northport’s general manager of the terminal operations division, brings 25 years of experience in the port and logistics industry.

Northport also announced G Ulaganathan as its chief operating officer, effective Dec 1.

“With a distinguished career spanning 28 years in the port and logistics industry, he will oversee Northport’s terminal operations, including container, conventional cargo, logistics, marine services, and the commercial division.

“His wealth of experience will be instrumental in driving operational excellence across these critical areas,” it said.

Meanwhile, Azman Shah has more than 30 years of experience  including, among others, investment analysis, corporate finance, corporate strategy, business development, and a demonstrated achievement in port management.

He was appointed the CEO of Northport in 2016 and holds several directorships and a chairmanship; chairman of Port Klang Cruise Terminal Sdn Bhd, director of Klang Port Management Sdn Bhd, and director of Northport Distripark Sdn Bhd.

“His proven leadership abilities and strategic vision are poised to maximise shareholder value, ensure sustainable growth and position our port businesses to achieve new heights and deliver exceptional value to the stakeholders,” Northport said.
