KUALA LUMPUR:
Tesla has cut prices for its Model 3 and Model Y by RM8,000, which the carmaker said is in line with its mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy and popularise the use of electric vehicles (EV).

“The Model 3 and Model Y start from RM181,000 and RM191,000, respectively, effective today. Customers can now order at Tesla experience centres or on Tesla’s official website.

“Tesla vehicles are eligible for full import and excise duties exemption, as well as 100% road tax exemption, and income tax relief of up to RM2,500 for EV charging expenses,” it said in a statement today.

The company said the price (excluding on-the-road registration fee) for the Model 3 starts from RM181,000 (rear-wheel drive) and RM210,000 for long range (all-wheel drive).

For Model Y, the price begins at RM191,000 (rear-wheel drive); RM238,000 long range (all-wheel drive) and RM280,000 performance (all-wheel drive). All prices exclude the on-the-road registration fee.

It said that using the Tesla application, users can locate, navigate to, and monitor the status of superchargers, with payments processed automatically with a pay-per-use supercharging fee of RM1.25/kWh.

As of today, Tesla said it has seven supercharging stations (36 chargers) and 10 destination charging stations (61 chargers) in Malaysia, with the ongoing expansion to facilitate travel between Malaysia and Singapore, where there are 11 supercharging stations and nine destination charging stations.

“Tesla is committed to keep advancing its charging infrastructure in Malaysia to meet the growing demand for Tesla across the regions,” it added.
