KUALA LUMPUR:
Haris Arshad, who began serving in his new role as COO of Sime Darby Plantation Bhd (SDP) on Jan 1, will oversee upstream operations in Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

SDP group managing director Helmy Othman Basha said in a statement today that Haris will also continue as Sime Darby Oils managing director where he will lead marketing expansion efforts and revenue growth.

“His appointment signals Sime Darby Plantation’s readiness for the future, Helmy said.

“Building on the achievements of the past, Haris’ leadership will be instrumental in navigating our business through the opportunities and challenges we face as an organisation with a global footprint,” he added.

In addition to his main responsibilities, Haris will also spearhead the group’s key corporate exercises, Helmy said.

Haris will also chair an operations leadership team (OLT) that will be in place by Feb 1.

The OLT will be instrumental in ensuring seamless alignment and coordination of the group’s strategic efforts,” Helmy added.
