
Fauzi, who previously served as a board member of Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd from 2018 to 2021, is considered to be “well-versed” in the industry’s developments and challenges, according to the group.
In addition to this appointment, he is also the chairman of two other private companies, the group noted.
In its statement today, MyHSR Corp said that Fauzi will provide strategic guidance and support to the board, especially in assisting the government to fully privatise the high speed rail project through a private financing initiative.
CEO Ismal Kamal said Fauzi’s long history of astute leadership and unwavering commitment to positive growth will strengthen the group’s resolve in bringing the project to fruition.
Fauzi was a former deputy minister in the prime minister’s department from 1997 to 1999. He was also the MP of Kuantan from 1990 to 1999, and MP of Indera Mahkota from 2013 to 2018.
He was a former Pahang state assemblyman for Beserah.
Fauzi holds a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London.
