In a statement today, chairman Arif Mahmood said Chin’s appointment represents a significant step in the company’s journey towards redefining the healthcare ecosystem.

“His deep industry knowledge, proven leadership, and commitment to innovation make him the ideal leader to steer KPJ Healthcare to the next level,” he said.

Based on the group’s filings with Bursa Malaysia, the previous managing director Shukrie Salleh had resigned on Sept 7, 2022. He was appointed on April 1, 2022.

According to today’s statement, Chin worked for more than two decades at diversified healthcare company Johnson & Johnson, rising swiftly from a product specialist to the managing director of Johnson & Johnson (Malaysia and Brunei).

He was also the former president of the Pharmaceutical Association of Malaysia and a member of the board of governors at the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and an MBA from University of Nottingham’s business school, the statement said.
