KUALA LUMPUR: It was yet another disappointing start to the day for Bursa Malaysia and the ringgit.
The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) opened at 1,387.24 points to register a 0.09-of-a-point drop from yesterday’s close of 1,387.33 points, dragged down by an overall lacklustre performance on worries over the Chinese economy.
Meanwhile, the ringgit retreated further, opening at 4.6325/4.6385 to the US dollar, down from yesterday’s close of 4.6265/4.6350 thanks to weaker market sentiments.
A hawkish stance at the Bank of England and the European Central Bank also left the ringgit trailing the British pound and the euro.
