PETALING JAYA:
A new homegrown program to counter cyber threats will hit the market soon.

The new defence system, known as V-Dark, is designed to stop advanced persistent threats from groups such as organised financial crime syndicates and others that target enterprises.

V-Dark has been developed by Velum Labs Sdn Bhd, a cyber intelligence and cybersecurity unit of Sapura Group.

Sapura president and group CEO Shahril Shamsuddin said two-way transfer of knowledge had facilitated homegrown research and development (R&D) that led to the development of next-generation cyber intelligence and cybersecurity solutions.

The transfer of knowledge had been made possible through engagements with global engineering companies, he added at the launching of V-Dark by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA 2023) today.

V-Dark can help businesses in various sectors, such as commercial banking, defence, insurance, aviation, energy and telecommunications strengthen their cyber resilience.

Shahril said the launching of V-Dark at a global industry event showcased Malaysia’s homegrown capabilities that comprised talented engineers and experts in delivering cutting edge cyber solutions not only for Malaysia but other nations as well.

Velum Labs and Sapura are at the LIMA 2023 to showcase their technologies under the ambit of Revolutionising Malaysia’s Cyber and Military Capabilities for the Digital Age.

More than 600 exhibitors from 20 countries such as China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, the UK, the US and the UAE are taking part in the event.
