
This follows his appointment as non-independent non-executive director from December 2003 to April 2010, and his reappointment to the same role from February 2013 to April 2017.
Prior to that, Ong was OSK Securities Bhd (now known as OSK Investment Bank Bhd) managing director and CEO from July 1985 to January 2007, and later the group’s managing director and CEO.
He was then redesignated as non-independent non-executive director until April 2013.
Apart from the above, Ong served as the executive chairman of OSK Holdings Bhd, OSK Property Holdings Bhd, and PJ Development Holdings Bhd; as a non-independent non-executive director of RHB Bank Bhd; and as the non-independent non-executive chairman of RHB Investment Bank Bhd.
He was also the director of the Malaysian Exchange of Securities Dealing and Automated Quotation (Mesdaq) from July 1999 to March 2002, and a member of the Capital Market Advisory Council appointed by the Securities Commission Malaysia in 2004.
Ong currently has the largest shareholding (65.84%) in OSK Ventures through OSK Equity Holdings Sdn Bhd and OSK Holdings.
In a separate bourse filing, the group has also appointed Datametrics Research and Information Centre Sdn Bhd managing director Pankajkumar Bipinchandra as independent director effective today.
Pankajkumar was OSK Research Sdn Bhd’s former research head, before he joined Kurnia Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd as chief investment officer in 2005.
Meanwhile, the group also filed that independent non-executive director Mazidah Abdul Malik has been redesignated as senior independent non-executive director.
She has been appointed to the OSK Ventures board since December 2022.
OSK Ventures also announced the end of Ngo Get Ping’s tenure as independent director as he had exceeded his nine-year term limit, in accordance with Practice 5.3 of the Malaysia Code on Corporate Governance.
At the time of writing, the group’s share price was down 0.5 sen or 9.43% to 48 sen with a market capitalisation of RM96 million.
