
KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia X Bhd’s share price surged by 25% after reporting an improved financial performance for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2022.
At 10am, the long-haul low-cost airline’s shares jumped by 17 sen to 85 sen, with 23.24 million units traded.
AirAsia X posted a net profit of RM153.48 million during the quarter on the back of a strong revenue of RM339.29 million, boosted by the year-end peak travel season.
From October to December 2022, the low-cost airline’s ancillary revenue per passenger also rose to RM196 from RM142 in the preceding quarter.
Meanwhile, its passenger load factor (PLF) was healthy at 79%, up by six percentage points from the previous quarter, showing an over 97% recovery from the same period in 2019.
