PETALING JAYA:
Two telecommunication services providers have teamed up to bring the 50Gbps experience to Malaysians.

Under a recently signed memorandum of understanding, Telekom Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TM R&D) will collaborate with ZTE (Malaysia) Corporation Sdn Bhd to conduct research that will lead to the introduction of higher internet speed.

In a statement issued to the media today Telekom Malaysia Bhd, the parent company of TM R&D, said the two companies would explore the capabilities of next generation passive optical networks to enhance bandwidth for internet users in Malaysia.

CEO of TM R&D Sharlene Thiagarajah and her counterpart at ZTE Steven Ge inked the deal recently.

The two companies will look into ways that can deliver ultra-broadband access to the government, enterprise and consumers.

They will also explore the possibility of providing support for innovative services such as 5G, cloud virtual reality (VR), industrial intelligent manufacturing for high bandwidth, low latency and jitter, and clock synchronisation.
