PETALING JAYA:
Penang will see a new man drive its digitalisation journey with immediate effect.

Ng Kwang Ming, a veteran in the software, IT services and technology sector, took over from Tony Yeoh as CEO of Digital Penang with effect from today.

Digital Penang is a government-linked company set up in April 2020 by the Penang government to accelerate efforts to capture opportunities in the digital economy and to promote a digitally-engaged society.

In a media statement today, Digital Penang said Ng will continue to push the digital agenda and to lay the next phase of the 2021-2023 Digital Transformation Master Plan.

The digitalisation journey is aligned to the Penang2030 vision.

Chief minister Chow Kon Yeow expressed confidence that Ng would take the digital transformation “to the next level” to build a strong digital ecosystem for Penang.

Ng has worked for leading multinational companies, including IBM Malaysia and Motorola before moving on to Mimos Bhd. He has also served in the applied research and development centre under the science, technology and innovation ministry.
