PETALING JAYA:
CSH Alliance Bhd’s (CSH) wholly-owned subsidiary, Alliance EV Sdn Bhd (AEV), has obtained the manufacturing licence for the assembly of commercial electric vans and model approval for primarily the BYD T3 EV van.

The local assembly of the model will be set up on a 22.2-hectare land in Tanjung Malim, Perak, the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

AEV is currently applying for the approved permit from the ministry of international trade and industry (Miti) and other approvals from relevant authorities to bring in the completely-built-up (CBU) units of BYD T3 EV into the country for distribution purposes prior to the set-up of the local assembly plant.

With the manufacturing licence, CSH said AEV will proceed to finalise the detailed commercial arrangements with BYD Malaysia Sdn Bhd for the implementation and execution of the local assembly plant.

CSH has ventured into the electric vehicle (EV) industry in tandem with its goal to electrify the future through a memorandum of understanding with BYD Malaysia.

In a separate statement, CSH executive director Jeff Chong said the company’s next milestone is to bring in the CBU vans for the commercial sector in the country, which will largely benefit the commercial industry mainly the logistics and transportation sector in lowering their carbon emissions.

“Together, we will be able to reduce Malaysia’s carbon footprint and develop a more sustainable environment for our future generation,” he said.

CSH noted the plant’s strategic location in Tanjung Malim is within the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley (AHTV) which will house the biggest automotive manufacturing plants in Malaysia with comprehensive supply chain companies around the area.

AHTV is expected to be a high-impact project to boost the national automotive industry and is envisioned to be an automotive industry hub for the Asean region.
