The deal will see KRU Studios Sdn Bhd provide content for PPj’s Nature Interpretation Center (NIC), Taman Wetland.
Under the agreement, KRU Studios will become the operator of the nature-interactive exhibition centre by providing equipment, technology and creative content.
It will also be responsible for marketing and managing the NIC, which has been rebranded as Wetland Studios Putrajaya.
In a joint statement issued today, the two parties said PPj was agreeable to KRU Studios’ vision for the scope of the content based on the theme of preserving and conserving the environment and species of life from the pre-historic times to the present day.
The emphasis will be on the function and role of freshwater wetlands, which is one of the main sources of natural biodiversity in Putrajaya.
The new attractions to be developed will include creative and interactive, digital and physical exhibits such as animatronics.
The facility has been closed temporarily for renovation, maintenance and upgrading works that will be carried out in stages and is expected to be completed in April next year. The official opening date will be announced in December.
KRU Studios president and CEO Norman Abdul Halim said that under the “edutainment concept”, visitors would be able to gain an understanding of various fauna species such as mammals, reptiles, fish and insects as well as flora such as trees and flowers and the role they play in supporting the natural ecosystem.
PPj president Fadlun Mak Ujud said Putrajaya, which became the country’s administrative centre in 1995, was designed as a city in the park. It has a total of 13 parks, one of which is the wetlands.
These parks, he said, had become favourite recreational spots.
