TOKYO: Sony Group will release the next generation of its virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 5 video game system at the beginning of next year.
Gaming subsidiary Sony Interactive Entertainment tweeted Tuesday about the launch of PlayStation VR2 on PlayStation’s Japanese account. The price and specs were not revealed in a one-line social media post.
The PSVR2 is expected to be released simultaneously in major markets.
Details will come out in time, an SIE spokesperson said.
The PSVR2 headset is a long-awaited sequel to the PlayStation VR, which debuted in October 2016.
The new hardware is expected to feature advanced video and audio technologies, enabling users to experience the virtual reality in a more immersive way.
