Genting: Resorts World Las Vegas construction remains on track

Genting tells Bursa Malaysia that a US court had granted an extension of time for Resorts World Las Vegas LLC to file its response to a complaint by Wynn Resorts.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The construction of Resorts World Las Vegas in Nevada, the United States, continues and remains on track despite an application by Wynn Resorts Holdings LLC for the Nevada district court to grant a temporary restraining order on the project, Genting Bhd said.

Resorts World Las Vegas LLC is an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Genting Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Genting said the court had granted the company an extension of time for Resorts World Las Vegas LLC to file its response to the complaint after filing its opposition to Wynn Resorts’ application to halt the project’s construction.

On Dec 21, 2018, Wynn Resorts filed a complaint to the court, alleging that the architectural design of the upcoming Resort World Las Vegas was similar to Wynn Las Vegas and Encore Resort.

In filing its opposition, Resorts World Las Vegas argued that the upcoming hotel and casino resort would look “dramatically different” from Wynn Resorts when it opens for business in late 2020.

It added that Wynn Resorts had failed to demonstrate the threat of imminent and irreparable harm — a key requirement for the granting of any order of temporary or preliminary injunctive relief.
