Bursa Malaysia higher at mid-afternoon

Losers tipped gainers at 350 to 311, while 312 counters remained unchanged, with 915 untraded and 25 others suspended.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Bursa Malaysia was higher by 0.29% at mid-afternoon, supported by heavyweight counters, led by IHH, Tenaga and Axiata.

At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 4.87 points higher at 1,675.15 from Friday’s close of 1,670.28, after opening 0.29 point lower at 1,669.99.

On the broader market, losers were slightly higher compared to gainers at 350 to 311, while 312 counters remained unchanged, 915 untraded and 25 others suspended.

Volume stood at 867.85 million units valued at RM488.89 million.

IHH added 13 sen to RM5.48, Tenaga climbed 18 sen to RM13.66 and Axiata rose 10 sen to RM3.96. Cumulatively, these counters contributed 5.47 points to the composite index.

Other heavyweights, Maybank eased two sen to RM9.27, while PBBank and PChem gained four sen each to RM24.72 and RM9.24.

Of actives, Hubline was flat at four sen, SapNRG climbed one sen to 31 sen, MyEG improved three sen to 85.5 sen and Velesto inched up one sen to 18.5 sen.

The FBM Emas Index surged 32.47 points to 11,403.58, the FBMT 100 Index rose 35.16 points to 11,324.18, the FBM 70 increased 49.62 points to 12,876.01, the FBM Emas Shariah Index gained 51.40 points to 11,370.07, but the FBM Ace Index reduced 8.55 points to 4,250.06.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index was 3.02 points easier at 17,140.52, the Plantation Index fell 75.64 points to 6,734.62, while the Industrial Products and Services Index added 0.07 of-a-point to 165.54.
